Buzz saw sound for Bass

strassercaster
My good friend is the guitar tech  for arguably one of the biggest rock bands of all time   the Bass player  wants a bass pedal that sounds like a buzz saw. Any suggestions? I know for sure im gonna send him a glorious bass star but what else? I have to send it monday time is a serious issue but i would like to send a couple or three pedals. I play guitar but I made a basstar and kept it because its great for recording.I will rebox it and do a nice decal but I want to send a few thing. I have a couple tonebenders in the works but they arent done . What a good fuzz for bass.? Also whats a good synth sounding pedal for bass ?  He already has a bass big muff. He wants something edgier a little help please . I am so excited ha ha

I think the Shin-Ei FY2 sounds great on bass. If you're familiar with the bass sound on Radiohead's Exit Music, you'll probably see where I'm coming from.
It's probably best to do the modified version with the scoop and volume recovery mods, as the original struggled to reach unity gain, and the scoop makes it more versatile.

Bass sounding like a buzz-saw...?
That's a Shin-Ei FY-2 Companion Fuzz. No doubt!
Sounds like a buzz-saw in unity with a jackhammer. An amazing and unique sound!
I built one for a friend who is quite a high level session musician and producer, just recently, and he is totally blown away!

Build the updated version, not the original. The original has barley unity level...
It could be a good idea to also add a blend circuit, so that you can blend in some of the clean low end, as the pedal filters away a lot of low frequencies via the output caps. But it still sounds awesome on bass without a blend.
Without a doubt my favourite fuzz for bass!

Nice one Strassercaster! You need quick and easy builds for your deadline.

As the guys have said, Shin Ei FY-2 for sure.

Conrad Buzztone is buzz saw all day long (Circuit is very similar to the FY-2).

Superfuzz and Ace Tone FM-2 are monster bass fuzzes but maybe not quite buzzy enough.

I'm guessing he's already familiar with the Wooly Mammoth?

 mountainking megalith
Brutal and simple (you could omit the boost stage and then it's just two transistors)
