Choke Advice

kirshman
Hey everybody.  I'm going to be building a Gibson GA-40 clone and I'm in the sourcing parts stage. This is my first time ever building an amp with a choke, and that's really the last part I need to figure out.  According to the schematic I need a 3H Choke @ 125 mA.  The two closest ones I can find are the Hammond P-T156M 3H @ 100 mA, and the Hammond P-T157Q 3.5H @ 150mA.  Which one would you pick and why?

I've built a couple things with chokes, and I didn't notice really much if any difference between similar sizes.  Mostly just make sure it's rated for the voltage and expected current.. you won't notice any difference between 100 and 125 mH..  says I.

It's the smoothing choke in the power supply circuit? I'd go for the 157Q: I doubt an extra 0.5H would make much difference in the power supply smoothing circuit, and you've got a higher-than-spec current rating, rather than under that way.
