Daier pots

GoranP

Now that we have a few people ordering from Daier, has anyone ordered their "alpha" pots?
Apart from 9mm being blue instead of green I got from Banzai and 16mm not having that nice plastic cap that Tayda's come with, are they any good or should I just stick with Tayda?
Tayda ticks me off because they refuse to stock 25k lin ones.

Not sure about 16mm ones, but when I inquired about 9mm ones, they answered that the minimum order was 1000 pcs for each value, so, didn't even argued about :P

Maybe on 16mm ones is different. By the way,  i use to take off the plastic cap of tayda's ones, it takes about 2-3 mm high, and I prefer to use these mm's for the velcro.

By the way, there's a lot of chinese sellers on eBay  offering 20 pcs (16mm) + shippin' at about  5.5 euros, so Tayda can get the fuck out definetely for me :P

I really like those plastic caps!  I float my boards anyways so they do a bangup job of isolating the caps' backs. Diff'rent strokes, I suppose....

As for chinese sellers, I've sourced a few B25k from them but they are really crappy most of the time. Sometimes very scratchy, sometimes all too easy to turn. Mixing them with Tayda's really messes up the pedal feel for me, when one know turns very differently from others.
I know that these pots have a low tolerance but I got a few B25k's from ebay that didn't go past 12k... Tayda's have been remarkably precise so far...

Yeah, price isn't everything, I know what I'm getting from tayda, besides I can get the vast majority of what I need all in one place and I know the quality I'm getting.
If it wasn't for this website I would definitely have a life.

Yes, Tayda pots are really fine ones (quality and price). But as I told on some other posts, I'm fed to the teeth of them and their service (I'm not telling that this happens to everyone, just my experience).

So I've started to search for other sources. Enclosures from Daier are hard to beat. Components: in downtown Madrid I hace a couple of good and very reasonably priced stores, even thought I  have to waste a couple of hours.

And now, I have to get the "final" source for pots. I have the best ones I've tried (Alpha with solid staff and solder lugs) in Spain (www.retroamplis.com), but they're a bit expensive (1,20 euros / piece), so I'm purchasing several lots from different eBay sellers, maybe I'll find a trustable and cheap source :).

Will ask Daier anyway if 16mm pots have too a so "high mimimum quantity" to order.

If their pots are decent quality, maybe we should do a group buy...
Values like 10kB and 5kB for fuzz factory and so...

I bought some of each value of these last year so I had a smaller option for 1590A (if I can ever be motivated to build in one) or for tight 1590B builds, and they seem solid enough at a good price:

I got some from here too which are also good:

They also have the long lead trimmers which are especially useful for bias resistor replacements where you may have to span larger gaps.

Excellent info, thanks Mark!

Prices are comparable to Tayda but it's nice to have options...

Unfortunately no, no other sizes. Only "Alpha" in 16mm.

Yeah I'd get my 16mm from Tayda (or Futurlec) as well.  The ones I posted are the smaller 9mm ones.

Just to follow up, 500 is the minimum order on 9mm pots but on some 16mm values the guy is willing to go as low as 50 pcs per value.

Still too much for my hobby building needs. Guess I'll be Tayda's b*t*h for a while longer.
