I'm not the best at stripboard layouts so I'll just post this here for the experts to play with.... =)
This is a fairly straightforward single-algorithm FV-1 circuit, it would be a nice starting point for learning how to work with the FV-1. For easy stripboard building the PedalPCB EZ FV-1 module is available, a through-hole FV-1 module for stripboard/breadboard layouts. (ready to use, no SMD soldering required) http://www.pedalpcb.com/product/ezfv1 The pin spacing is standard 0.1" x 0.6" so it can be handled like a standard PDIP-28 (WIDE) IC. The 24LC23A must be loaded with an algorithm in bank 0, although multiple switchable programs are possible by pulling pins 16, 17, and 18 high (corresponding to the binary encoded bank number) The internal algorithms can also be used by grounding pin 13. |

Awesome! I've been hoping something like this would come along.
I really like the idea of working with the FV1 but haven't liked all the multi-function/multi-program way-too-many-knobs schematics and PCB designs floating around. |

Hi Rob/BuGG (Is Rob correct?)
I want to add this layout on the main page where I think it may get more exposure but I honestly know nothing about FV-1s or how your circuit works. If I do, would you be able to answer some people questions? |

Absolutely! I've been meaning to verify the vero myself but have been a bit busy... I have a feeling heuermh will beat me to it. =P I'll have pre-programmed EEPROMs available soon for those who just want to build the thing and not fool around with programming as well. |

Right, I mostly likely have overlooked a step. I was planning to use SpinCAD to design the algorithms http://holycityaudio.com/spincad-designer-2/ (or perhaps even the underlying library ElmGen, since I'm more of a coder than diagrammer) which exports the Spin assembly as a hex file, I would presume. Then I'm not sure yet how to put that on the EEPROM. I was thinking write to it from a Teensy or similar? |

Can the FV-1 be used for polyphonic up/down octaves? I ask cause I was looking at the new Octave Jawn mod that Fuzzrocious is doing on their pedals and the pic I saw of the PCB didn't seem overly complex. I'm totally dumb when it comes to spin chips and their capabilities and was curious if that was what they used. If i could build a polyphonic octave on vero I'd be pretty goddamn excited!

You can get a USB EEPROM programmer for a few dollars on eBay....
Use SpinCAD (or ElmGen) to create a SpinASM source file, compile it to hex with SpinAsm IDE, then dump it to the EEPROM with the USB programmer. |

This looks like exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for to get into digital effects. Has all the ADC/DAC built it with a good sample rate already AND support for up to 3 pots. I'll have to build this out on breadboard. It may never end up in a peddle haha.
