![]() You're definitely not helping my GAS. I'd love to build a 5F6A or JTM45 |

Yeah I want a 5F6A pretty bad, but I'm going for the SLO-100 clone next. I got the boards already, and I just started working again so it may actually happen! I whipped up a schematic of a Model T preamp section strapped onto a 5G9 power amp for lower wattage and that swampy power tube bias tremolo. I may try that instead.. so many things to build!

haha, I'm not here to help :)
I thought the same at first: I have 3 amps, two of which I bought and one that I built, who needs another one? But I got kinda bored building pedals and hated that my workbench is empty. So I'm building this, and I'll see if I like it that much, or maybe I'll sell it... Not sure. Henry Rollins had the best possible description about this "GAS": "When something’s done, I’ll go, “Okay, cool,” and I’ll shelve it, and I’ll rejoice that the damn thing is done and my desktop is empty so I can fill it with the next project. I’m a shipbuilder. I don’t want to sail in them. I want you to sail in them. I’m just happy that they leave the harbor so I can have an empty workplace. And the glee of getting the component parts and starting from scratch starts all over again, and we build the next ark." |

While I was planning the faceplate, I figured... This amp is a 30W beast, so a PPIMV feature would be great to be able to turn it down to a manageable volume, and I found this:
![]() Have you guys done a mod like this? |

I thought I would show you the cab that I built to accompany my amps.
I ordered a raw custom cab from tube-town, it was made with 18mm thick pine plywood with dovetail joints. I wanted to have a custom look, that matches the 18W Bluesbreaker head that I built, and so I ordered some more orange tolex and grillcloth and did all of the design work at home :) I put two WGS ET65 into the thing, they are really good! The ET65 is basically a copy from the Celestion G12-65. ![]() ![]() |

Tube-Town offers a custom faceplate service, which means you can select a board size, a board type and color, and send them the design in vector format (pdf) and they will laser-etch it and laser-cut it. They have a really big, very professional machine to do it, so it is really great quality.
They offer acrylic and plexi as well, so you can have a satin finished faceplate or a glossy one. Pretty cool, because you can come up with your own designs and make the cuts any way you want. You can find it here: https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/Faceplates/Custom-Shop-Name-Faceplates/Custom-Shop-Faceplate-Standard::6225.html https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/Faceplates/Custom-Shop-Name-Faceplates:::560_563.html |

okay, so I've done some progress on the JTM45... Got the transformers from Germany (they are really great quality, and heavy like shit), so I completed the wiring, now I only have to get some tubes, check the wiring three times at least, install tubes, do the biasing, and we'll see. :)))

Looks dope!! Keep that going man, I love me a good tube amp. I've been playing my Triple rectifier lately with the clean -pushed setting and fuzz pedals.. it's pretty good. Not as good as the Bassman on 7 with the doom bloom or parallel universe 2, but still pretty good! Keep us updated!

Dear boys and girls, the JTM45 is ready and works like a charm!
Tubes arrived today, I made the last step and I went through the wiring two more times and checked the resistor values, checked the grounds with the multimeter. I bought JJ tubes, they never let me down. (ecc83s, kt66 red valve, and gz34) ![]() Installed the tubes, and I checked the voltages then I checked and set the bias. I plugged my guitar in, and boom works for the first time, with no issues at all! Instant good sounds out of the thing, even on lower volumes (since I finished the last steps at home), so I couldn't be happier. I'll shoot a better video tomorrow when I'll have the chance to crank it properly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMDqyKmuKT8 |

That's awesome dude! Those KT66 are freakin cool huh? Nothing cooler than when you're playing at night and you can see the blue glow moving around in the power tubes

I didn't had the chance to see it in the dark yet, but I'll check later.
I finally managed to crank it - all pots on max - sounds fenomenal: https://www.instagram.com/p/BYBIlwjFKus/ (I only used the TS808 clone that I built, you can hear the difference when I turn it off) |

That sounds great dude! Every time I look at this thread I get GAS to build a JTM45
Got started on the 5e3 cab. Need to add cleats, drill holes, round over the edges, sand, and finish. Got the baffle painted black and ready for grill cloth since this pic Gonna be busy this weekend ![]() ![]() |

I've got my cab all ready for stain and clear, but I couldn't resist putting it together to hear the speaker in the cab. Sounds so fantastic, can't wait to get it done!
