Oh man, that looks great so far!

What speaker did you put in?

I'll have the box for the JTM this week, so prepare your GAS, it is going to be apple green! :)))
And of course, I'll post pictures :P

Thanks dude! It's got a Weber 12F150 which has a ceramic magnet. I was going for a Neil Young like thing with the ceramic speaker, sounds great! Also sounds amazing with a Celestion Alnico gold that I got for the AC30

Looking forward to the GAS

I've got a Cannabis Rex in my 5E3 build. It might be too loud and fat for some people, but I absolutely love it.

Oh man, I have so little time to finish the amp, but ... I thought I would tease you all!
The design work is done, look how the faceplate is going to look like: (the only difference is that the faceplate is black, and all the letters and graphics going to be engraved as white)

I just ordered it today after the test, so next week I'll be installing it.

Re: First t00b amp build

Thanks, dude! It took me two weeks to come up with something, that I haven't seen on an amp before :)

By the way, I finished the amp, here it is:

I wasn't particularly skillful with the corners on the front, so I'll put some black metal corners onto it.
Tolex on rounded corners is a pain in the ass to work with.

Thanks, dudes!

I put on the corners and added the legs, it is finished, here's one shot with the 2x12 cab that I did a while ago.

Btw I'm planning to shoot a video of this amp, recorded with an SM57, so stay tuned, I'll post it soon.

Been a while since I’ve posted here. That JTM45 is still stunning!

I was having a lot of fun using the amp as it was put together without the grill cloth, but this weekend I finally disassembled it again to install the grill cloth

Obligatory photo (and one of the guts since I think I’ve got a photobucket issue here)

oh man so sweet!

I really love the wiring, so neat and clean, and just.. ah.. Great job!

I would call it "Hulk", the green(ish) color totally reminds me of that.

Btw I'm not sure if I posted it here or not: JTM45 with all pots on ten: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bbz2tJFlTaK/

Haha thanks man

Nice clip! Have you had a chance to crank it up with humbuckers?

Re: First t00b amp build

yep, I have a Squier Tele Deluxe clone, sounds great with that too (with the Bass knob set lower than 10 for single coil guitars - the JTM45 tends to be a little bassy sometimes).

Oh and also.. in this Tele I have a Seymour Duncan Little 59 in the bridge, so it is basically a humbucker (but not exactly like a regular humbucker)

I’ll tell ya balazs I’m itching to play with more tubes and transformers.

You got any other tube projects planned?

Re: First t00b amp build

oh man.. yes! for sure.

First, I have this guitar project that I'm doing... which I have to finish first (I have this "no new projects till I finish the one I have" rule).

But... I really want a small thing for home (like fender 5f1 or something like that, I liked the small Milkman amps look). Also, I was thinking that maybe it would be great to build a '68 50W plexi too - maybe with some mods, to have more gain and things like that.

I really like the Ceriatone layouts, they are really great, you'll only need that to build an amp, they even have some excel file with voltages.

dude, you will not believe this!
I just bumped into a guy in Hungary, who was selling a handmade ~60W tube amp for around a 100-120$ - I had to jump on it.

It does not have particularly nice or well-made box, the chassis is not really nice, but it's got some good parts: caps are good (Mallory, F+T), and the trannies are nice (Dagnall as I see), and it's got old Russian military grade OTK tubes, so I think I just got parts for my next project :)))

I have to buy some better tube sockets, and some better knobs, and switches - but it is going to happen!

That’s cool man!! Sounds like a score just for the transformers alone.

Post pics if you got em! Don’t you hate when people use cheap tube sockets though? Of all the parts to cut corners on, the tube sockets are just about the worst
