Gate control on Big Muff for velcro sounds

I've searched quite a bit but couldnt find any proper answers for that. I want to add a gate control much like on the Fuzz Factory to a Russian Big Muff, is it basically a dying battery mod? Or is there anything else to this?

Not noise gate dude, a gate like a gated fuzz. A Velcro fuzz.

Or am I tripping balls here and the noise gate mod literally does the velcro fuzz thing?

The guy says you replace the emitter resistor at Q4 with a pot and it will do the velcro, but it will also change the sound a bit for more treble and cut/boost the volume. Well first I tried the parallel one, guess I'll give this one a go.


Tried it, much better than the noise gate mod. It does boost and cut some frequencies cos I replaced the resistor with a 5K pot, but this thing rips now.

Just had a try at this with my Triangle clone, and you don't have to replace the resistor, just do like the gate mod and add the pot parallel to the resistor. I also found that adding a 1K resistor between lug 1 and ground helped with the volume drop, the pot still cuts some frequencies but the volume stays pretty close until fully CCW. The bad thing about this is that it interacts with the Sustain pot, it will almost cut off if you set the Sustain pot low.

Well now I have a different issue, I noticed that for some odd reason the volume of the attack is low but opens up and goes up, sorta like a Slow Gear effect. Its mostly on the lows, anyone heard of such thing?
