MP Fire Red Fuzz Git Volume Problem

george01
Hi all,

I´m a newbe, and build a MP fire red fuzz,
It sounds very good, bud there is one problem:
When increase the guitar volume, I can here a crackling noise
and low effect, it works fine when the volume knob is set
almost to "ten".
It sounds as the guitar pot would be faulty, bud I´ve changed the guitar
result is the same.
Only when I put another pedal before the fire red fuzz everything sounds great,
I can handle the guitar volume as usual.

Every comment will be helpful!

Regards,

Gerd

it sounds like you have DC on the volume pot, indicating that you have a short, a solder bridge or a misplaced component somewhere.

Hi Johnk

Thank`s for reply,
I`ll check all again, should I measure the DC
on the Input jack?

The footswitch connects ground to the boards input
is this ok? I can measure a shortcut between input
and ground after pressing the fs.

Thank`s beforehand!

Regards,
Gerd

i'd  look for DC on lug 3 on the volume pot.

I checked all again, and can measure 3,8 V Dc between Volume 3
and the 1uF Elko on the Board , also  3,8v  on the Input Jack  contacts (or Guitar cable) ....
Could the Elko  cause the Problem?
I think all Parts  are on the right place, and can measure no
Solder bridges..

Gerd
