I wasn't impressed with MPSA18 or any of the usual Si transistors so I went through my box of random reclaimed stuff and found one that fit like a glove, but I can't identify it.
It's metal can and has "ITT 449 417-154", I'm guessing it is a Zenith? Hfe of 93. Other transistors around Hfe 100 sound pretty good.
wow, this is the lowest parts-count fuzz I've ever seen. how does this thing sound?
I know a transistor's sound depends a lot on the circuit surrounding it, but in a way this circuit is a good way to test how different transistors sound intrinsically.
It's a Bazz Fuss with a gain pot. Most of the clipping is going to come from the diode. In my opinion you should test transistors in the circuit you plan on actually using them in
