Hey Guys

I'm building a bipolar power supply, but the ic i need (TC1044SPCA), is not available.
What should I use to replace this ic? What's a good alternative?.

Cheers,

Re: Question

You could build a voltage inverter like this and use both outputs (+9v from top track, -9v from fourth track). Uses an ICL7660S (the S is important!!) which are common and inexpensive. I bought ten for like $3.

I believe someone in the comments of that post actually did this. It will (should) be exactly what you need.

EDIT actually, here.
Through all the worry and pain we move on

max1044 looks like a pin for pin replacement, according to the datasheets the max1044 max input voltage 10.5v, tc1044 max input voltage 12v.
tc1044scpa are available at farnell uk, mouser & ebay
If it wasn't for this website I would definitely have a life.
