Roger Mayer Mongoose

I put up a video of a pedal I made yesterday - The Roger Mayer Mongoose
Based on the Mark's Vero layout of course. It sounds great!!! :)

Sorry for my crappy playing...

It turned out super ugly! Has a totally unnecessary geeky LED meter that was originally intended for a DIY mic preamp that I never got around to. I also took a fader from a old defect Behringer mixer and used it as the gain pot  (it had the right value). I also added a switchable lowpass filter to remove some fizz if needed. I know, totally unnecessey stuff, but it was fun building it :P

It almost doesn't matter what it sounds like, it will still be the coolest pedal ever because it looks like David Hasselhoff should be driving it!
Awesome, definitely need more info on the meter!

Thanks for the kind words :)

I found the schematic for the LED meter here:
http://pira.cz/enbar.htm

So I made a Vero Layout for it. It's verified and works perfectly.
The LED wires goes to the negative sides of the LEDs.

I figured it would be easiest to connect the LEDs on a a daughterboard, something like this:

daughterboard 3mm

or for 5mm LEDs
daughterboard 5mm
or you could just wire the LEDs together in the box.

You could only use 5 LEDS if you wanted to, and take output 1,3,5,7,9 from the IC for best resolution. Or configure the LEDs basically and way you want to, from inside - out, different colours ect.

At first I made a layout from a much simpler schematic without the op-amp, but that didn't work out well with guitar signal.

However, the LED meter circuit sucked the tone alittle and cause interference... So I decided to put a splitter inside. I used the AMZ Buffer/splitter found here:
http://www.muzique.com/lab/splitter.htm

I made a layout for a two channel version of that aswell. Verified.
AMZ buffer splitter

So it's three different circuits inside... took me at least three time as long to finish and the LED circuit takes just about as much space as the Mongoose circuit.

Anyway, hope that can be of some help/use.
Maybe I should call it the Hasselhoff Fuzz? Lol!
