I had a listen to some demos and this sounds very cool.  Just need some ferrous beads now.  Any idea what they do??

(edit) Ok I just had a look for ferrite beads and I gather they are some kind of voltage peak protection or something like that.  Do we know what sort we should use? Because there are a bazillion types out there!  I imagine we need some pretty tiny ones on wire - kind of like a tiny diode or something.  Not that it ascts like a diode, just that it looks a bit like one.  I know I have seen some which looks like mouse droppings but have no idea where I would buy them.

Any ideas guys??

Here is the original trace, which includes the voltages for reference.

I used PN2222 (plastic version of the 2N2222) transistors on the breadboard, and the voltages were pretty spot on. Sound-wise, I couldn't tell the difference between the breadboard and the original. The object here is to stay fairly low gain. I suppose 2N3903 (low gain brother to the 2N3904) might work really well here as well. I haven't tried the 3903 yet, but it's on the list when the boards come in. This circuit is primed and ready for testing anything low gain NPN you may have on hand. Keep them under 190 hFe, and you should be pretty happy. If you're wondering about the hFe numbers on the schematic, I pulled all the trannys off the board (GASP!!) and measured them with DCA55. Is nothing sacred? That's just the way the tootsie rolls.

REMEMBER!!!! THIS IS NOT VERIFIED. ONLY TESTED ON THE BREADBOARD!!

Cool - I have some metal can 2N2222As which should be perfect, although I think they are mostly over 200hfe.  I also have some 3903s which are ridiculously low gain - some barely scrape in over 100!  I might try them if the 2N2222As don't work well.

I ordered some ferrite beads from Mouser which are apparently 7A - i don't know if that is the relevant parameter or not!

My board is all built and I have some metal can 2222's and some old button 5133's that were too low gain for a muff build that I'm gonna try out. Should have it together by tomorrow and I'll let everyone know how it works.

Pretty sure this is verified. Wired it up to my test box and it works. I had a lot of noise but that should be cured by not using foot long wires and getting it boxed up. I've been waiting on some 125b's to show up. Should have em tomorrow and I'll get it boxed up properly and report back.

Hmmm...well. I boxed it up and same issue. If it's first in the chain it squeals when the gain is a bit over half. Tried it with a buffer before it and the squeal is gone.

Also, this is a good sounding fuzz if a bit tame. Kinda reminds me of the skreddy lunar module. It's like a fuzz for people that don't really like FUZZ and I don't fall into that camp. I prefer things to be on the edge of meltdown.

Noisy? That's weird. Had mine on the breadboard and it was fairly quiet, even wide open. I mean, nothing more than the normal breadboard hiss, which normally goes away once boxed.

Yep. Could be me (probably is). I'm away from my bench all week so I can't look it over. When I get back I'll give it a thorough debug to make sure it's not a dumb mistake on my end. Also, its quiet as a mouse with a buffer in front but without one it gets whiny when the gain is cranked.

Just built one PTP. Haven't done something old school in a long time. No noise, other than the fact that the lid is off, it's picking up the lights. Probably disappear once it's boxed.

Awesome, can't wait to get home and get mine sorted (stupid holidays!) I'm stuck at my in laws and I've had to satiate myself with a bag full of 1590bb and 125b boxes that I'm laying out for drilling. I think my Titan may just need a transistor swap as I suspect my cheap Chinese component tester has been less than accurate lately (time to finally order a dca55). I have about 30 2n2369's I know are between 100-200 hfe that I'll try. Just want to say thank you to you guys for diving into these pedals. My Saturn V hasn't left my board since I put it together. Out of the 100 or so dirt boxes I've made over the last few years, the Park MKIII into the Saturn V is my all time favorite fuzztone.
