I GOT IT!

Well, as usual, it's embarrassing... I was focusing on the 4013 chip and "around", so I decided to unsolder (yeah, why socket transistors, uh?) the 2N5087 and what did I discover???? pinout was printed on the body of the transistor and reversed... FUCK.

Worked like a charm once I reversed it!

Savvas, this layout is awesome and I must admit I was kind of afraid to try your biggest layouts but I had 0 problem with the layout itself (took extra care and double checked everything as I soldered). Thanks again for that!

that's great news mate!
i'm glad you made it work!

i must also admit, that i love buildning all those big veros, but i'm always prepared to hear a bit of noise and hum...but with this one!!!ohh!! it's a great effect! i'm surprised of how "clean" this is...no noise, or ticking and staff..hope yours too!
cheers!

yeah, it really sounds great.

I'm wondering how much the Ultra Flanger, by John Hollis retains of the original circuit, because it's much simpler!

Hi guys! I'm thinking to give this beast a shot but I've a couple of questions...
Any suggestions how to power this board with 18v?
Can I use those voltage doublers like this or maybe this,or it is supposed to work better with a LT1054-based circuit?
I see that Cylens had problems with a charge pump but it turned out that the problem was somewhere else...
And secondly, Can I use BC549B transistors instead of the BC549C?
BTW thanks for the layout Savvas! (I'm also from Greece!)

hi there my friend! to be honest i don't have the answer about the voltage doubler. i've tried in the past the 555 and the 7660s but they where for a smaller circuit, so i'm not sure if they will deliver enough mA for 7 ics.
i'm powering mine straight with 18v from a power supply i've build using a laptops supply, so i didn't have to build a doubler.
as for the transistors the answer is yes. bc549b has less gain but it will work.
good luck mate!

This post was updated on .
Thanks for your reply man!
I have only a 1spot power supply to power all my other pedals so I guess I have to get
a seperate supply only for the collosalus...I'll keep my eye open if I find anything...
If anyone has any other ideas or if anyone has made a working daughterboard I'd be grateful...
I think it's a great effect...as you said there aren't many layouts for flangers out there...

(I live in a village in North Evia. I love Salonika...always had a great time whenever I've been there...)

Hi cylens, so you got it to work with 9v or with the 18v charge pump ? (or maybe both)
Thanks

Fantastic effect and layout. Despite the size, the built was not so complicated. I used 18V charge pump based on NE555 from main tagboard site and it is working perfectly. There is no noise, effect is silent with such charge pump. I was afraid that it might be not to powerful but fortunately this was not the case.
The best effect depth I get once I calibrated unit little bit differently then described in Madbean documentation. I adjusted clock trimmer in the middle (instead of 1/4) and feedback is almost at full.
Again, great layout.
