Don't go for the cheapest ones, they're crap. I've done it and I regretted it.

Are you buying a lot?

It depends on what you like, but i've just ordered 30 of these:

Good quality and price. I ordered 20 time ago and liked it very much, for that price you can't ask for more.

Yeah the thing about jacks is that it would be nice to save money and buy the cheap ones but in all seriousness, they are what the pricetag says: cheap.

I would reather just buy a lot of good quality ones because you will feel the difference both when making the pedal and when you plug the cable into the finished pedal.

I've been buying jacks from this guy: http://pedalparts.co.uk/ because he gave me a nice price last time when I bought 230 of them (which was the limit for a 2kg package to Iceland) and they are really really good quality.

I think next time I'll go with Bitcheslovemyswitches because he's got proper neutrik ones: Link

I'm sure this is going to sound pretty ignorant, but with is the deal with jack quality?

I've generally bought 2 kinds, the cheapest from Mammoth and the cheapest from Tayda.  They seem to solder well, take up about the same space, I plug in, I unplug...

What's the "quality" of the jacks that would make you spend 3-10 times as much?

Note that I am not arguing the point, as I'm still fairly new at this, but rather I'm curious as to why I should buy different ones, Neutrik, for example.

Try this guy,

Sells Neutrik (Rean) in theUk for a great price. Not a dealer, just a bloke clearing out excess stock. Well worth PM'ing via ebay (assuming your in the UK)... ok it's me!

Tayda cheap jacks break easily (the black plastic part), and the tolerance of the threaded part is terrible, you can't tighten them as you would like to
