PEAK ATLAS DCA55 CURRENTLY BEING SOLD FOR £19.99 AT MAPLIN

GET ONE QUICK BEFORE THEY REALISE WHAT THEY'VE DONE
Thanks for this. It's also free delivery in UK. That's like half price. Probably more than makes up for the few occasions I've paid like fifteen times the usual price for a single capacitor.

no, and I googled to see if anyone in the US has a similar price and they don't.

However, correct me if I am wrong but if you have a DC75 then you already have a device that does everything this does - right or wrong?

Yeah the 75 does everything the 55 does and more............but it's £100 more expensive than this offer.

I was looking for a cheap way to stock up on JFETs, and instead of 2N5457 and J201 I used the J113 for most of the time, I think I they sound pretty good, and you can get a lot of them from here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/J113-Trans-JFET-N-CH-3-Pin-TO-92-Pack-of-100pcs-/300542211908
I used them for Phase 45 and Phase 90, a lot of overdrives, and I think it is a really good substitute.

I also stocked up on J113s a couple months ago. A friend of mine told me they used to be very standard Jfets, so I figured why not? I haven't tried them yet but I have some projects.

I think I am down to about 40 J201s
It is still easy to find 2n5458s, although the 5457s are getting more rare.

Get Your Pot Here - BitchesLoveMySwitches

This looks like a really good deal - the exact type of pots I always buy - gnurled knobs with solder lugs. Just 29-cents apiece

Those pots are cheap but I don't think they're the Alphas that we are used to from tayda. Those look like generics and the shaft diameter is 6mm rather than 1/4"

Personally I'll keep buying the Alphas from tayda for 50 cents

This post was updated on .
They are .236 inches... .o14% difference.  I would chance that.

I was on my phone before. I am not sure if Alpha is a brand or what. I am sure these shafts would work for me since the shaft is actually smaller than 1/4-inch - so most knobs you have should fit right on there.

In terms of quality - I don't really find the ones from Tayda to be super reliable - I have had a few go bad.

I have been buying these knobs at Tayda: http://www.taydaelectronics.com/hardware/knobs-8688/black-plastic-knob-with-blue-pointer.html and it says they are 6mm diameter (Knurled). The knobs they sell with set screws are 6.35 shaft hole (meaning you get .35 mm play before you tighten the set screw).

Alpha pots are higher quality pots. Just because they're higher quality doesn't mean you don't get a few duds or have a issue every now and again, but it will happen less often. It's the same with anything you buy. If you buy high end tubes you still have a chance of a dud tube or having it last then it should, the key is your chance of that happening should theoretically be lower then buying cheap tubes. You can apply this to anything. The problem is that if you spend more on something that should be good quality but it has a higher instance of problems and duds. Personally I've been using alphas from tayda for close to 8yrs and never had a dud. Side note the ones from blms do not come with pot condoms, so if you were to factor into the price buying them your going to spend about $0.50 a pot.

The knobs are the same as the ones tayda sells, and it's a question of if they'll will fit the pots or not. Btw, I do like blms and have order a bunch form them, and you will get a better deal if you buy enough knobs from him, plus shipping is cheap a chips.

All of the knobs from BLMS will fit their 6mm pots but obviously the knobs meant for 1/4" shafts will be a looser fit.

I also love BLMS. Lawrence is a great dude and provides really amazing customer service and great prices. For enclosures and switches without ordering direct from China, BLMS is the best low cost option out there

Don't know if this already has been posted, but I came across this Amazon deal:
1280 resistors, 64 different values, $5.95 with free shipping. Whut?!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K67YAKS/

Thinking about buying so I can stock up on some things, but this is too good/cheap to be true, right? Am I missing something? Could there be a difference in quality?

unfortunately, those are not really Ge, they're schottky diodes being sold as if they were Ge because they have similar forward voltages. i can tell you from experience that they do sound good, similar to Ge but no the same at all. but, at that price it's worth it, just don't expect them to sound exactly like Ge.

I built Mark's "Son Of Screamer" with the 18V charge pump with the "germanium" shottky diodes and it is by FAR the best Tube Screamer mod I've tried. They sound spot on in my silver Klone as well

Gotta say I have had consistently great results subbing those for Ge diodes and the smaller size can be really convenient for a lot of layouts. I love em, but like Zach said just don't pay top dollar for them thinking they're Ge

any time man. it's easy to get ripped off when the words Germanium are used. one quick way to tell. not always the case but 99% of the time, is by the diode packaging. DO-35 are small glass diodes typically schottky diodes, and DO-7 are large glass diodes typically Germanium. any price between $2-$8usd for 50-100 of them is a pretty good price.

travis, glad i'm not the only one that likes them. damn consistent and sounds great, just not Germanium. lol
