btw, i found an auction that ends in 2 days for 500 2n5457's for $80. i don't need that many, and the price is beyond good, so i was thinking, anyone want to go in on it with me?
I'd go for 100 of that if that helps.

I'd be interested too - 50 perhaps?  I doubt I'd ever use that many but you never know.

Unfortunately it ended and sold by the time you guys said something. The seller supposedly has a lot more and will be posting the same auction again, so I'm keeping an eye out for them. If it shows up I'll grab the. And we can split them up however.

No worries.  BTW - I found some J202s on EBay:

J202 JFETs

I went ahead and bought some 'cause the price was/is right .  These should be drop in replacements for 2N5457s if you look at the data sheets (and based on other info online).  I'll say more when I get them and measure their Idss and Vp.

If anyone wants some extremely cheap box caps check this seller out.  You can get all the main values here for peanuts.
If you're buying multiple values message him for a postage price first and then get him to invoice you when you've bought them.  I ordered 3 different values I wanted to stock up on, and paid less than I would have paid for 2 if I'd let eBay do the calculations for me.

 Thank you,
  Sergio

I'm watching the new one and I'll try to grab them. If I win them I have. No problem spitting them and sending you some. I'll keep you posted.

If you are after stocking up on different value resistors, this seems like a reasonable deal.  200 resistors for £1 delivered (that's about $1.60 for those over the pond)

I HAVE  Thousands of resistors in ever size up to 5 watt but this was too good to pass up.  Fort a couple of buck,  you can fill up the empty bins!   Mike.

Rocket88 - I'd be interested in some of the 2N5457s too, though I may just order more J202s (see my link above - Fairchild transistors too ).

I also have a bunch of RCA CD4049UBEs, so let me know if anyone needs some of those for Llamas and such.

Resistors - I'm looking to order some metal film resistors, but here's my dilemma.  I don't mind ordering the assortments, but then I end up with a bunch of values that I'll never use (especially those sub 100 ohm values!).  I'm weighing whether it's cheaper just to get the values I need or to order an assortment and just toss the one's I won't ever use.  Hmmmm.

I placed an order a while ago with a company that were selling 2500 resistors in any mix of values you want, so I obviously ignored all the dross values and stocked up on the most frequently used ones.  I'll see if I can find the seller again

Just checked it out and this was the guy I bought them from

http://stores.ebay.com/Electronic-Kits-and-Parts-Store

But he doesn't seem to sell any resistors any more.  It was 3000 in quantity of any value and I paid around £6 plus £6 postage.

But you can get 2500 really cheaply now from some sellers, I recently bought this pack

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200928610804

And at that price it's still good even with some pointless values.

I'm not sure who was asking about the upright trimmers with long legs that the old balkan_sales had, but our new friend at ml_electric has some 10k ones listed

IvIark - I ended up ordering a large variety pack for $9 (free shipping) on eBay.  For the price, I don't mind dumping the low ohm values I'll never use!

I now need to find some 50K cermet 3362 trimpots.  What we do to bias those JFETs - grrrrrr!

Re: Inline Capacitors

So, I just managed to stock up on a bunch of cheapy linear pots in various popular values. They're from China, but are actually quite decent and definitely good enough for "non-premium" builds.

Only problem is that there doesn't seem to be anywhere to get a similar deal on log pots. Anyone found a seller?

Anyone with any experience of THESE?

Price is great but would love to know if they're any different to the bog standerd blues we normally see around?

Tried to sift through the thread and couldn't find info, hope it's not already been discussed?

Thanks!

Re: BARGAINS!

Yeah, I have a bunch of them and they've been absolutely fine. Never had a problem.

The only issue that I did have was that they didn't fit Stinger's daughterboards. I had to either drill the holes slightly bigger or use a dremel to make the lugs slightly smaller. It's only a couple of minutes to sort out, but if you solder the wires straight on, then it makes no difference anyway.

So yeah, go for them. They're fine!

Re: BARGAINS!

I believe so, mate. I haven't got a standard blue one to compare, but if the standard ones are fine and these aren't, then it looks that way.

I pushed pretty hard, but couldn't get them to fit. It's only a TINY bit though. Like I said, I just grinded them down slightly.
