Would any of the other 2N595x's work?  I don't have a 51.

Also I am a bassplayer and play TF2.  Some sort of odd coincidence?  Pyro all the way!

It's actually a 5952, I edited the above post. I'm not really sure, I don't know how similar the characteristics of the series are. I measured a few sample FETs from my collection so you can see the differences:

MPF102 Idss 9.90mA Vp -2.715V
2N5951 Idss 11.1mA Vp -2.675V
2N5952 Idss 10.8mA Vp -3.406V

So it looks to me that an MPF102 will be mis-biased using the resistors specified.

OMG another one!
Through all the worry and pain we move on

Thanks a lot for that. I just have this weird feeling that it is some sort of power issue. The fact that one of the two LEDs lights up as soon as you put power to it has to be significant. I'll probably just scrap it and try it again. Sometimes it's easier just to redo it

Dude another one? Fucking aye, I'm beginning to think all us bass players have the same mindset. Lol. Glad to find another one.

But, i would change that fet, I'm almost willing to be that's the issue. Nothing about the board jumps out at me as a mistake, or poor solder joint. You weren't kidding. That silver vero made my eye go all wonky. It makes looking at the solder joints a nightmare. With the copper you see everything nice and clearly.

If you need I might have a bunch and can send you the right transistor.

Thanks for the offer, but I tried it with a 2N5957 and I am still having the problem with that damned LED lighting up.  Just the one, which seems really weird.  Some ghost in the machine thing.  Nah, I think I will place a parts order since I need those big caps anyway and just try it again.  It takes less time to build it again than troubleshoot it some times.  At least this is an inexpensive hobby.  Could be worse

Has anyone built a blender that works well with this circuit? Tried the Split n' Blend and the Mini Jfet Blender and both seem to suck

This post was updated on .
I found a similar issue when I used the Split & Blend on the Wampler Hot Wired & the problem was the Input goes from the Split & Blend and the Output then went into the Input of the Hot Wired which had 1M resistor going to Ground for the Anti Popping & the Hot Wired was unusable . I removed it and put the 1Meg resistor to Ground at the Input of the Split & Blend & No more Issues.

Its not a popping issue as much as the the mix not working right

I didn't have a popping issue, The Split & Blend's Output going into the Hot Wired Input which has the 1 Meg pulldown resistor as it would as a stand alone circuit but it was now in the middle of the the Circuit and it screwed up the way the Hot Wired was suppose to work. I removed it & placed it at the Input of the Split & Blend & solved the Issue.

Thanks for the help man, I did wire the pulldown resistor to the Split n Blend and didnt have any pops, the mix control still acted weirdly with the Blueberry

Just confirming, Did you wire the Split n Blend the same way as I described with the  S 'n' B Output going  to the Input of the Blueberry with the 1meg Pulldown resistor to Ground removed from the Blueberry Input.

Yup, the blend works, its just not very effective because the dry signal is at unity gain, there's no boost to it, sadly.

What JFETs are you using and where’d you buy them Groove Champion? Could be as simple as bad JFETs

I'm so confused with all the versions :/

Thought about picking up the ol' iron again, and want some more Bass overdives in my collection. I read everywhere in the thread that the BJFE blows the MP and Bearfoot out of the water. I can't seem to find the layout for the BJFE though?

I reread the thread 3 times now and did a search, but, it must be early, I don't get it haha. The layout posted says Bearfoot. Is it actually BJFE? Or are they the same?

Apologies if it's a dumb question, but I'm a bit confused.

Hey bro. It’s in a completely different thread, this is the bearfoot version, which is more or less a modded honeybee. Which is funny because from what I’ve read the honeybee came from the blueberry. There’s some major differences between the in some of the design and in the tone. I think this is what you’re looking for.

Glad you see you’re back, btw.

Thanks a lot! Didn't turn up in my search, weird. Will try it for sure. Have a feeling I will be more into bassplaying again.

Hope I'm back! :D Had to lay low a bit. Was hard to motivate myself. Built 5 pedals in total since March
