It's been a little while since I posted a build or two. Mainly been working with a CAD program to learn how to do up my own PCB's

Here is a nice clone of the HAO Rust Driver. I'm calling this project Diamonds and Rust.

This PCB has added mount points to allow for the DPDT (on/off/on) switch. This allows the use of 2 additional caps that offers a brighter or darker overall tone. (Thank you JohnK for the vero layout)

In image 2, the PCB is rigged up to a test device that saves a TON of time and wiring. Test drive was perfect, this one is ready to be boxed up!!

Yeah, 220, 221. Whatever it takes.

Here's my latest. THE CONRAD BUZZTONE.

Took me a long while to get this right and I don't know why....(I guess sometimes we all have builds like that).

So glad I persevered with this it's really nasty and buzzy and fuzzy and fizzy..... but it can be tamed (well almost).

That looks great Bogey, it's a great fuzz isn't it!

I love the "pig tails" on the diode - that's a really neat touch.

Cheers Beaker,

Oh yes it's beyond great. I've been stomping all over this one since I boxed it.
Don't think it'll look pretty for very long

Kudos for spotting the "pig's tails"

That looks awesome Geiri. I assume you have settled on final component values for this?

For anyone else interested in this pedal, Geiri gave me a demo of this when I visited him a couple of weeks ago. It's the best reverb pedal I have ever heard!

I noticed the pig tails right away as well :P

It reminded me of the diodes in my Superfuzz

That's actually a really good idea for diodes.  If one blows you could just solder a new one through the pigtails without having to even take out the board.  Of course feedback loop diodes are not likely to blow but it could be good for experimenting too, making it easy to add extra diodes in parallel to see how it sounds.  I've never seen them before, is that the reason it's done?

As Ed Sheeran said, I'm thinking out loud

That would certainly be a brilliant reason to twirl the legs like that, but I have no idea. I had thought it could be something like what you just explained, or maybe some attempt at heat dissipation. Neither would be very important for this application.

I would guess that these diodes probably came this way, as it seems like a waste of time to do it at the factory, but who really knows? There are no markings on these diodes afaik. No idea what they are, though they look like Ge. The transistors are also mysterious dome-top Si. I can say that the pedal sounds pretty freaking awesome, but your guess is as good as mine on the components. I can crack it open and see what's printed on the trannies if anyone wants, but I seem to remember googling it to no avail

Heart Throb Tremolo. Still figuring out how to fit a battery AND make it look neat inside. I am pleased with the finish though, my first crack at a burst. Build #15

nice graphics. i like that old school industrial aesthetic, bogey. it's like the shutter controls in an old warehouse. or the ladder controls on a 1970s firetruck. is that transparent decal stuff or did you print it onto the box? if it is transfer, which brands do you recommend?

Cool looking build. How do you like the sound?

The best way to do a battery in a 1590B (in my opinion) is to put it between the 3PDT and the bottom of the enclosure. The part that made this impossible for you is that you mounted the DC jack at the top of the enclosure. You would either need to use an external nut DC jack or relocate the jack. It fits neatly between the input jack and battery at the bottom

Here's an example of how I do it. Just one tip, when you're fitting the battery in to figure out how high you need to drill the hole for the 3PDT, check the battery fit with the snap connected, as that changes the way the battery fits

I like how it sounds, even though it lacks in features. Might try the Tremulous Lune next (unless I find a cool tap tempo trem first).

That is a good suggestion Travis, I have tried the battery at the bottom, side DC jack. However, I like keeping the stomp switch as far away from the knobs as I can, and find it easier to daisy chain the power when the jacks are at the top of the pedal.

But your build look so clean and orderly, I might need to try that layout again.

Hi tabbycat and thanks for the compliment.

Sorry for the late response I've been away to Ibiza for a long weekend.
Re: graphics.....it's just clear waterslide decal paper of ebay (craftovator was the vendor if I remember correctly)
I'm terrible with computers so it was just designed in paint.net which is the only program I've been able to get my head round and I still have real trouble printing them off the right size.

Hope this helps....and I hope my body stops trembling by weekend so I can do some building
