I built miro's '78 IC Muff layout last weekend and it is awesome! Such a badass muff

Guts to follow soon - working on 3 at the same time.

Left - Modified Bass Quack (color version)
Center - Semi original Bass Fuzz,
Right - Semi original distortion.

Semi = derived from another circuit since nobody ever really does an "original" anymore

Trivia time - the enclosure in the center; can you figure out who's eyes they are? Hint: examine the pedal for a clue

Yeah, 220, 221. Whatever it takes.

nice build john, and the graphics and styling are stupendous. very 1970s retro classy.

did you raid a joyo 6 eq for the sliders? i've got a joyo 6 band (mxr clone) and it has exactly the same.

Epoxy resin came up a bit when I re-drilled it, so...you know...learn to love the blemishes!
am loving that graphic and finish, ms. totally pop-art mod v lowfi glitch times.

Thanks Beaker! I spent at least 3 or 4 hours riffing around with this thing yesterday. I'm thinking it's my new favorite muff. Build one if you haven't yet!

Travis, what does the second stomp switch do for that IC muff? It's rocketing up towards the top of my build list on your recommendation, and that of a band mate who wants one.

Thank you! What I lack in cleanliness I try to make up for in tone.

It's the tone bypass. Using a toggle switch would have messed up my board placement in the 1590B (it's a little tight with my usual hardware) so I figured what the hell.. Rather than omit the switch I'll give it a little bonus by using a footswitch. I'm glad it worked out like that, because the tone bypass is a useful addition and the footswitch is a convinient way to access the two sounds.

If I were to do a more full featured version of this, I'd probably include a bicolor LED to indicate the tone bypass mode and add a skreddy style mid switch to have even more midrange flexibility beyond the tone bypass

Wow, I had exactly the same idea!!!
Just built a superfuzz to use it with a catalinbread wiio, (which never convince me to tell the truth). Is that couple working as expected?
Cheers, Gilberto.

Here's one of my unexpected favorites, my version of the DeArmond Square Wave Distortion Generator

(btw, if you build this, the Intensity control (called "Snarl" here) should be C500k not A500k)

This pedal kicks ass.  Pump a gnarly p90 pickup through this and just... man, fuck those fancy pants pedals.

I ordered some "blemish" stock enclosures for really cheap a while back.  Instead of actual blemished enclosures, I got some fairly perfect finishes but of odd one-off colors, etc.  So... what do you do when you get sent a Pink enclosure?

and just in case you missed it the first time...

Awesome builds John and Heath! Love the graphic Heath!!

I built this board last night and boxed it tonight. After work speed build yay! It's a nice perky Fairlfield Barbershop without the sag

heath, are you for real? justine from elastica? surely ironic? i saw them a dozen times at mixed-bill-britpop shows back in the day and i honestly used to think that sleeper were secretly paying them to turn up just to make them look good. appalling doesn't say it. chronic gets close. widely believed that the most talented person on their tour bus was their dealer.
well, nostalgia certainly has been kind to them if people are still listening to them now. surprised face. but love it if you love it, heath. your ears, your soul.
actually i think that pink is pretty cool. reminds me of miki from lush's hair. now there was a superb brit girl band. they lost the plot when britpop turned up but their shoegaze era stuff (gala album) was amazing.

btw i just noticed your stitched together board a few pages back. my deepest sympathy. have been there too. my still-dead vero tremshifter abortion. the lfos (bottom half of board) seemed to be working fine, but the top half (tone and power) i never got to work. i got so annoyed with trying to debug it i decided it would be easier to just cut off the bit that i couldn't debug and patch another top section on. and still didn't work. by which point i got fuck-it-itis and bought the pcb. i don't think i have the right mentality for debugging. i'm an emotional kind of person and when builds doesn't work i take it all too personally...

for shame i haven't posted a photo yet, but it is my greatest disaster to date. actually someone should start a 'disaster builds' thread. that would be funny. and somewhere to go when a build is killing you and you don't want to feel you are alone...

Oh, Tabby, why do you have to hurt me so?

I ADORE Justine.  I still get butterflies watching her in those old videos with her black telecaster and boots. *swoon*  Kim Deal is the only other female musician who does that to me.

I still think their first album and the Radio One Sessions were brilliant.  I don't know much about BritPop (Damon Alban can suck my little toe) but I like early punk and early Elastica, to me, touched closer to that original punk energy and snarl than almost anyone else who came after, albeit with a feminine (but not girly) sensibility.

How can you not like Stutter!?

Yep, there are about three of their tunes on the card in my car mp3 player on regular rotation :p  Stutter (above)

I love it :)

Ha!! Well, the CB-30 stitch build was a blend of boredom, pedal building addiction, impatience, and not being able to resist a dare.

I'm with you on the debug mentality.  Emotional? Nah.. I just sawed a Little Bastard (angel) Chorus into pieces because it pissed me off.  My second try at building the not-terribly-complicated Galileo resulted in me backing my car over the non-functioning board repeatedly.

Shockingly enough I actually got the tremshifter built and working on the first try.  Pure bloody luck, that.  I'm glad you got the PCB instead of giving it up, it's full of feisty goodness.  One of my greatest disappointments is the Harbinger, from MadBean.  Build that big bastard and got it working great.  Put it in the enclosure, was a tight fit, closed it up, stopped working and has never worked since.  I gave troubleshooting a try, replaced everything that was socketed, but I never found a problem.  It sounded groovy too

It took me a while to post anything other than the destroyed LAC and the stitch board, both of which defied bad wiring judgement by virtue of their goofiness.  It's mostly because I'm really unhappy with my wiring and boxing, especially when there are people on here who make such ridiculously perfect looking pedals, inside and out.

Then I remembered that I don't give a fuck :)

We'll have to make that thread.  I'll find the LAC destruction picture to kick it off.  Since it's sometimes hard to see why a board is a disaster, maybe we should encourage er... "artistic enhancement" :D  anyway, I'm rambling.
