Here's the finished Abductor I built a few weeks ago. The board fits almost perfectly in a 1590J that I originally bought to house my etched phaseur moire (that sadly ended up not working out). Didn't even have to drill any extra holes! I usually use labels on my pedals, but this was my first time painting the entire enclosure. It seemed more fitting for the spaced out goodness that comes from this box.

A custom build I did for Kelley of Mothership. A modded MKII tonebender. The thing just fucking rips. After building it, I swear everyone should have one. Gooey, creamy fuzzy goodness for days.
Also made his brother Kyle one of my Gentleman OD, blueberry overdrives, not posting that since it's been seen before. Lol |
That looks great! almost looks like a reverse etched enclosure!
after seeing so many tonebenders here i think i might need to try building one ;) |

Thanks man. It is reverse etched, so the silver is bare polished aluminum. Definitely build one, it's so good. No joke, after tuning this one for a few hours, and rocking it before bringing it to them I've moved all the tonebenders up my build list. I get why they're so legendary.
Btw, love the ocd. I'm jealous at how you can do those waterslides. When I do them they end up completely fucked, I mean worse then a little kid doing them. |

I really like the Arcadiator, but the signal needs to be boosted into the input, hence the LPB1 (as Fredrik suggested). I know he recently released the second version of the circuit, I may have to build that one to compare :) I love the Fuzz Factory, but instead I decided to do the Red Witch Fuzz God II, which has a lot of the Factory's craziness, but I feel more versatility. Bias knob topside for this one. UV Reactive white with a light dusting of gold sparkle. |

I recently blew up my tone bender mkII with a wonky power supply, about to build it again because it is sooo good. What mods did you implement? |

really just a few resistor changes, the caps are all stock values, also the transistor choice also is unique as the hfe for all the transistors isn't the normal values. that's really fucked upnthat yours blew up, you sure it was the power supply? make sure you check that, cause it might have been some sort of build error that caused it.

M. S. That is a beautifully fucked-up looking finish.
Also... your wiring... you're like my pedal-twin brother. I'm don't feel so alone now. .... .... .... ...and drugs. Rock on, you Golden God. |

That's good to know! I'll probably look out for the second version if I ever actually build one :P
I've actually been using a fuzz factory for about six or seven years now, I just built that one to save the paintjob on my Zvex I looooooove the fuzz factory, but if you say the Fuzz God is better I'll check it out for sure Personally I like the quirky nature of the fuzz factory. It has a lot of personality, which I sometimes value higher than GOODness Have you used those enclosures yet? I'm waiting to see the masterpieces!!

It was pilot error. I used a 9.5 power supply with 1300mA that usually powers my whammy pedal - that might have fried the 7660s chip I was using. Unfortunately while debugging I forced the board and it snapped! (It was late at night, I should have quit hours earlier). The circuit had been stable for many months until then...

Thanks...I think! My wiring and finishes are a mile away from Travis and JohnK and many others on this thread, but it's fun to try and catch up, one pedal per month at a time. Pro work by 2046 or bust!
Travis ,I had the fortune of playing in a band with a fuzz fanatic, and while the Factory and fuzz probe ranked highly, I liked the fuzz gods ability to turn off the wild oscillation on a separate stomp switch. I have one of those enclosures ready for a Fuzzrite or Fuzzwrong when I get around to building that circuit. I'm waiting for inspiration to strike for the second one :) |

My friend is leaving on tour, and since he couldn't get the amp he wanted he asked me for a distortion pedal last minute - glad I had those painted enclosures ready! ProCo Rat with Reutz Mod (and a socket to undo the mod). I thought I had an LM308 in my bin (oops!), used a ua741 and omitted the 30p cap instead. (I really should get some reasonably sized 47uF tantalums...) Not my most creative, but I had to bang it out fast. Used a paint pen to label it. |

Travis, your wiring is amazing!

travis, your builds are so perfect you are almost annoying. if the arc of the covenant actually existed, and was a stompbox, i think it would look pretty much like that. pretty much exactly tbh. i hate you!
btw, cute controls. what and where?

that is insane, sonus. more cuts than a coked-up tory chancellor. and if you went through all that torture and actually got a working build out of it, i salute your bravery.

lol thanks tabby! It's a moonrock fuzz the layout is here
http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2016/02/wyllie-moonrock.html?m=0 It's been a good Saturday After the Moonrock I had just enough time to do the Ace Tone FM-3. Sounds awesome, I've got the amp cranked up and just switching between boost and fuzz, sounds super rockin Need to get two more knobs for it though! |

It was meant entirely complimentary. :) Honestly, I've been doing this for years now and my wiring is still shitty looking. I do some alright finishes, but they're such a pain in the ass they end up being a huge reason for me not boxing a pedal because I keep putting off the inevitable frustration. I've got a couple dozen pedals built, graphics printed, or at least designed, and enclosure drilled, only to sit forever. My wiring, though... I just do not have the skills. Too short, too long, forgot to do this or that and had to snip and rewire, etc. The term "robot vomit" was thrown around (honestly can't remember if I coined that or if it was someone else...) Anyway, I like Zach's enclosures because I could never etch like that and it blows my mind (and the fact that he uses "Champion City" on his pedals which reminds me that not EVERYONE missed out), I like Travis' because he can somehow remember what knob is what and leave things clean as hell (I'd be entirely lost), I like JohnK's because I bought the same labeler he used to use BECAUSE his looked so good and I still never could get mine to look anywhere near that, and I like yours because I can SEE the happiness and enjoyment behind their imperfections. You can tell they were done by someone who loved what they were doing, and that's awesome... aaaand they still look better than mine. Keep it up, man. |
