Introductions

Olav
There's a thread like this on every forum I visit. We all want to know who we're talking to, don't we?
Might be opportune to let Mark and Miro kick it off.
So, who are you?

Re: Introductions

rooo
Hooray for the forum!

I live in Brooklyn, NY. I survive playing music all day. And I compulsively build pedals. I've recently become obsessed with 1590A pedals. Any vero that is about 14 x 24 holes or less...I can cram into a 1590a.

I get most of my layouts form this here blog! But also from Sabrotone, FSB, DIYSB, etc.

Hooray again for the forum!

I'm Ásgeir and I'm from Iceland. I'm a studio & live sound engineer but recently I went full time with custom pedal making. It's a risk but it's so fun that it'll be worth the experience!

My name is Fredrik, i'm from Umeå, Sweden.

I make my living as a sound-engineer, both recording and FOH.
I got my own studio that looks a bit like a warehouse for old stuff.. :P

I collect guitar-amps, reel to reel recorders, various fx and kung fu movies (70's stuff mainly, like Shaw Brothers). I just recently got into making DIY stompboxes and I love it!

I play guitar in a punk/hardcore band called UX Vileheads. I got a hairy dog named Wookie.

cheers
/ Fredrik

I'd better tell you who I am then. My name is Olav, same as the screenname. I'm a selfemployed landscaper by day, I dabble at building guitars and pedals by night.
The print on components seems to get smaller each day, or is that me?

[edit]totally forgot to mention where I am ; I live in The Netherlands near Amsterdam and the airport Schiphol.[/edit]

Jon the Art Guy
In reply to this post by Olav
hello there! My name is Jon, I'm from Northern California, U.S.A, and although I'm a graphic designer for print and web stuff, I very rarely am doing that anymore as I'm the at-home parent to two very... exuberant boys.
I've been playing guitar for 20 years or so, and I never got that good at leads, so I like weird drop tunings. As a stay at home dad in a one-income household with two boys, I have no equipment anymore, and am too poor to purchase any. That's how I got into the pedal-building thing, and I can see it's the right choice. I like modularity and experimentation.

I'd be interested in seeing the ROG builds in vero, as well as a modified Boss HM2. There's a guy on youtube with an HM2 with various clipping modes I'd like to figure out. I'd also like to do a double pedal with an OD in front and an HM2 in back.

I like Swedish death metal like Entombed/Dismember; sue me.

Hey guys,

My name's Rick, I live in Stockport in the UK and by day I'm a training coach for one of the supermarkets here.  I started getting into building pedals around Aug/Sept last year and haven't looked back since.  I was trying to decipher circuits by myself and built them on triboard (like vero but in blocks of three) until I found this site through Bitsbox, let's just say my first couple of pedals weren't exactly a resounding success , luckily I've seen the error of my ways and have pretty much built myself a new pedal board :D

Hi dudes,

My name is Matt, I live in Wales & like Mark I'm a keen football fan.  Although I am an Everton supporter, so I don't get to taste as many victories or as much success as mr IvIark.

I am a full time house husband/father.  That means once I've sent the wife off to work, I log on & look for/at new pedal builds for 8 hours or so, parts source & then shelve the idea for weeks because I have to play cars!

Love this site, it's rapidly become an obsession & I am truly grateful for all the help & support that everyone gives on here.  It's always felt like a bit of a forum to me anyway (a happy one though), especially in recent months with how it has grown, so this idea can only be good!

It's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it!

In reply to this post by Olav
I'm Mark Andrews. At the moment I'm a house husband, as I see a few other are on here. My specialist fields are Fine Art, Teaching and Philosophy.

I've always had a passion for electronics and built things with my Uncle and Cousin at about 10 years old. It is only recently that I've got into pedal making and started to relearn stuff I'd forgotten.

I'm in a band called Colossal Youth and the responsible for how all instruments sound, both singularly and together. I make/modify most of the equipment to work with our 'sound', record us, mix and master the tracks. My instrument is the processing of the overall sound, everyone else just turns up and plays. I have learnt/am learning everything as I need to.

The veros on this site account for more than half the pedals we use.

Hi, I'm Derek, a self employed plasterer by day, and a pedal building maniac by night. Took to pedal building about 18 months ago after nearly electrocuting myself on my 4th amp build, figured 9v would be safer  love this blog, it's responsible for about 70% of my pedals.
If it wasn't for this website I would definitely have a life.

Hi guys!

I'm from Quebec province (french-canada basically). I'm a clinical biochemist so my training's far from electronics but I love to learn new things and, being a musician, anything electronic that's related to music I love to read/learn/work-on.

I'm quite happy there's a forum now (no blog-type ID and no intention of getting one) so now I can be more than just a lurker.

It's a great opportunity for me to thank Mark (and now Miro as well) for the amazing work they've put into this place. I've build a few of the layouts here to great results but it's not just the layouts.
This is an amazing place to learn and for that everyone that contributes is to be thanked.

Again, thanks a million, this is an amazing blog, and the forum will be just the same I'm sure!

Cheers!

Brent from Alabama, USA....if I'm on a forum, I have this same screen name...I am on DIY and FSB, but BYOC a lot more...I love IvIark's site and layouts (and you, too, Miro!) b/c they seem to be simple enough, with enough available info, to correctly guide a n00b like me, yet stimulating to keep the interest of those who know much more (everyone else, lol)

Super excited to have a forum here!!!

Hello.  I'm Keith and I live near Annapolis, MD USA.  I am your garden variety suburban dad who happens to play guitar and build pedals.  I spent many years working in IT and now I am in education because I figured out that the one thing I hate doing is working on computers.

I have learned more in the past year than I can even recollect thanks to Mark and now Mirosol.  And I have a bunch of really nice pedals to boot.   I thank you both for that.

Take care
Keith
