agreed. i love the name heath. but you know what? i've seen and done so much worse man. it really isn't that terrible, especially for a tube based pedal.

Clone Theory

This one was a pita.

1 solder bridge, 1 missed cut, and 1 resistor leg in the wrong hole.

Thanks Tim and John. I got the powder coating gun and the powder from harbor freight. It was pretty dang cheap. The gun is made out of plastic. Hopefully it holds up well, I'm going to try and use it gently. Harbor freight tools seem to work ok but they're not built for heavy use.

I gotta say when I hold this pedal in person and look it over it's a really pro looking and feeling finish. It comes out really nice!

Some things to keep in mind if you're looking to buy.. You're going to need an air compressor and an air hose, preferably a nice long hose. The gun only runs on about 20-30psi so you don't need a big compressor. You're going to want to run an inline moisture trap between the hose and the gun (harbor freight sells this too). You're gonna want a spray nozzle for your compressor to blow off dust to clean up the powder. You're going to want a mask, the simple disposable 3M dust mask is ok if used properly. And finally you're going to need an oven that can get to about 450° F (it can't be the same oven that you cook food in).

You also need to spray and bake the powder outside or in a well ventilated work space. This isn't something you should do inside your house. If you do it in the garage I would leave the garage door open

Agreed.

I does look good from my vantage point.
That reminds me, don't you want to give me a Christmas present, Travis?!

So... You got a problem with additives with your foods?!

Damned it - So, I guess using it in my bedroom is a No-Go?

Is this something that could be done outdoors in the winter when the temp drops below freezing?

First post to forum so very short introduction:
Restarted electronics hobby after 30 year pause (I'm 41 now  ) and here are projects number 2 and 3. First build was Big Muff from kit, second one Madbean Cave Dweller and third Tyco Brahe Octavia. Hardest part seems to be fitting these in enclosures, had to use some serious force with cave dweller... Drilling holes to right places is also quite hard even with templates.

spray paint & waterslide decal:

same inside:

and just an example of how NOT to box your pedal :D

Given my location in Orange County, CA and the amount of time I've had the powdercoater, I have no way of answering that question with any certainty

I would think that if you can keep your work completely dry and it's not too windy you should be able to spray. And if your oven can reach the necessary temp then it should cure. But I really can't say for sure

I can assume that it would work a lot better than spraying paint in the freezing cold..

Hey, where do you get those LEDs? I’ve been looking for ones like that.

Re: Show your pedal guts!

Heath
Hey, Kinski,

I guess I'm an oddball because I hate Mouser like the devil.

I go here:  http://www.newark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?pageSize=25&st=LED+Lens&catalogId=15003&categoryId=800000005494&langId=-1&storeId=10194

Super friendly, great customer service.  They have fresnel lenses for 3mm and 5mm (and more) and also round AND square lenses in addition to some mounting stuff (from plastic rings to little rubber thingies).  I've been very happy with them.

Also, they look to be about half the price of Mouser.

I did a bunch of powdercoating this weekend, and this is my favorite (it's my old Emerald Green Distortion build from Mark's layout). It's really hard to photograph, but there's more depth to the finish when you see it in person and when you see the light move on it
