Btw thanks Travis, suppose we always yearn for the things we can't get... Cool are they silicon transistors then? Never seen them before and I've seen my fair share of guts!

New here. Started building a few weeks ago, and thought it was time to show them off.

EXH Germanium OD. First build, only had several mistakes to fix, but works. Rather 'meh' overall.
Oh boy. This pedal rocks. hard. like stocking stuffers for your friends hard.
another massively winning pedal. If I build another I will add diode switching for even more win.
CB30 (vox in a box) - massively underwhelming. nothing like the youtube - open to suggestions to 'fix' it.
Behold the mighty Klon. It absurdly fired up immediately and worked perfectly. I used 1n34's that were wildly low for voltage, but it sounds incredible. Fat switch and split the dual-pot. Want to add the diode switching once I get another on-off-on.
Yes that's a superclear green in there. it makes it chesty.

its a monster!  I’m going to definitely keep tweaking it and trying to improve on it possibly add some bat85’s and some switches in the tone stack, it’s never as easy as simply replacing the tubes with fets of course. I need to test other fets as well besides just the J202’s. I’ve got some National Semiconductor 2N4393’s in the to-18 package Which may sound decent. I’d also really like to find a source for 1.5M pots for gain and bass like the amp uses but I think it has the potential to be a really great effect.

ME4003’s. If you search them on the uk eBay the seller has 900 pieces left ( I messaged him a few days ago )

It works out to about $20 CND for 100 plus shipping costs. Which is dirt cheap for any to-106 package transistor IMO

Re: Show your pedal guts!

Of course! It’s my pleasure. I’d hate for you to miss out on them as their running really low. However when your order they tell you right on the invoice they send who their supplier is. That supplier most definitely has them and many other Semiconductors at very competitive pricing and they all come nicely packaged in sealed anti-static packaging.

A few of the guys on here have used this transistor in some of their favourite builds and with the gain range being so wide spread you can really use them in almost anything

at the risk of being naive, what are the benefits of 0.15" pitch stripboards?

Most/all IC's and sockets are designed with 0.1" pin spacing. and most box caps are ~0.2" lead spacing.  Unless the only goal is to make more room for NOS/mojo parts?

Tesla: thanks!  if you're ever in the area again drop me a line!  btw, how is that 5153 circuit?  i've seen the schematic around but haven't gotten around to doing a layout yet.
It fits 1/2W resistors correctly and there is much more space in between the strips making cuts and soldering easier while making shorts unlikely

I'll be sure to check his store thanks for the heads up man...looking forward to getting them on the breadboard!

Here's my latest adventure, an ibanez Fl99 flanger. Two stacked boards into a 1590j enclosure.  Just having some fun trying to calibrate the SOB.

Ok so after some long, long nights of testing I think I’ve settled on drain resistor values for each stage with the j202’s for my 5150 lll Pedal, I want to ensure I keep the gain levels and eq of each stage consistent from build to build. Have you found any other good ways of keeping jfet pedals sounding consistent from build to build.

I’m still fairly new to the world of building so try to forgive me if this is an ignorant question.

Roland jc-120 preamp with a rub a dub deluxe reverb into a 100watt class D power amp.  I’m still auditioning transistors but j201 @ 18v sounds good so far!  Excuse the wiring mess - I had so many issues with this build with regard to noise and my power supply.  All resolved now!

This thing is FREAKING loud thru my 8ohm 2x12
